Welcome to Five Star Startups. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Five Star Startups website, directory, intelligence, account, and associated services (collectively, the "Service").

By accessing or using the Service, creating an account, or requesting a demo, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

1. About Five Star Startups

Five Star Startups surfaces the startups being built on campus before traditional databases or public funding rounds detect them. We identify companies through independent research and public signals—including hackathons, demo days, campus grants, public repositories, and school affiliations—verified by hand by our team.

We do not sell placement, nor do we publish unverified self-reported lists. Inclusion on Five Star Startups is determined strictly through our independent research and verification process.

2. Eligibility and Accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

If you create an account, you agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information, and keep it up to date.
• Keep your password confidential and not share your account or credentials with anyone else.
• Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account.
• Notify us promptly at alexander@mirenta.ai if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, create risk for other users, or are required to be removed by law.

3. Acceptable Use

You may use the Service only for lawful purposes in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

• Scrape, crawl, harvest, or systematically extract data, records, or profiles from the Service using automated means without our explicit prior written permission.
• Reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, trade, or exploit any portion of the Five Star Startups directory, dataset, or research for commercial redistribution or to create a competing product or database.
• Use the Service to spam, harass, or send unsolicited communications to founders, students, or affiliated institutions.
• Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
• Interfere with or compromise the security, integrity, or availability of the Service, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to it.
• Use the Service in violation of any applicable law or regulation.

4. Informational Purposes and No Investment Advice

All information provided on Five Star Startups is compiled solely for informational and market intelligence purposes.

• No Investment Advice: Inclusion of any student project, startup, or founder on Five Star Startups does not constitute investment advice, financial advice, legal advice, or an endorsement, recommendation, or valuation by Five Star Startups.
• Independent Due Diligence: Five Star Startups is not a broker-dealer, investment adviser, or placement agent. You are solely responsible for conducting your own independent due diligence before making any investment, hiring, partnership, or financial decision.

5. Founder Submissions and Information Verification

Student founders are welcome to tell us about what they are building. When submitting information about your company or project:

• You confirm that the information you provide is accurate, truthful, and that you have the right to share it.
• Submission does not guarantee inclusion in the Five Star Startups directory. Every company is reviewed and verified by hand.
• If you are a founder and believe information listed about your project is inaccurate or outdated, or if you wish to request a correction or removal, please contact us. We review and process factual updates promptly.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its curation methodology, taxonomy, compilation, branding, text, layout, and original content, is the property of Five Star Startups and protected by copyright, trademark, and intellectual property laws.

Trademarks, product names, logos, and company names referenced on the Service belong to their respective owners and are used solely for identification and informational purposes. Reference to any commercial product, service, or organization does not constitute or imply an endorsement.

7. Demos and Commercial Access

Access to specific lists, datasets, demos, or commercial features may require requesting a demo through our designated booking form. Additional commercial terms, agreements, or licensing arrangements may apply to paid or enterprise access, which will supersede or supplement these Terms where specified.

Our demo request form is hosted by a third party (Google Forms). Information you submit through it is also subject to that provider's terms and privacy policy. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle demo request data.

8. Third-Party Links and Services

The Service may link to third-party websites, repositories, forms, or products—including the projects of founders we list. We do not control those services, are not responsible for their content or practices, and do not endorse them by linking to them. Your use of a third-party service is at your own risk and subject to its own terms.

9. Disclaimers of Warranties

The Service and all included data are provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express, statutory, or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

Because early-stage campus projects move quickly, Five Star Startups does not warrant that the information will always be complete, error-free, uninterrupted, or fully up to date. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without notice.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Five Star Startups and its operators, affiliates, partners, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or investment opportunities arising out of or related to your access to or use of the Service.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages, so some of the above may not apply to you.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Five Star Startups and its operators, affiliates, partners, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any law or third-party right, or any content you submit to the Service.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or if suspension is necessary to protect the Service or others.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination—including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law—will survive.

13. Governing Law and Venue

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Service are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. You agree that any legal action or proceeding will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to their jurisdiction and venue.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms periodically to reflect changes in our Service, legal obligations, or operational practices. The revised Terms will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are published constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. General

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, that provision will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will remain in full effect. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Five Star Startups regarding the Service.
